4th of July Parade & Firework Show
This year’s parade theme is “Heart of Farm Country”
The parade will start the day off at 11:00 AM, with Fireworks to follow in the evening around 10:00 PM.
Mt Angel Chamber of Commerce is again hosting its annual 4th of July Celebrations which include a morning parade and an evening fireworks display.
This year’s theme, “Heart of Farm Country”, is fitting for a community rich in a history of agriculture. Surrounding our community are bountiful farms full of hops, hazelnut trees, berries, flowers, vegetables, wine grapes and more.
4th of July begins with a parade that starts at 11:00am. It will follow its normal route, beginning at John F Kennedy High School on E Marquam Street where it then winds through neighborhoods down Birch Street to Taylor Street to Garfield Street, finishing at the Weingarten. You can enjoy the parade on any of these streets or join us downtown where our emcee, Norm Zollner, will be introducing our parade entries and announcing float winners. Downtown businesses will also be open for those attending the parade, stick around after the parade and check out our local shops and restaurants. Businesses and individuals interested in participating in the parade can pick up a form at Chic Skape or US Bank in Mt Angel or by email email@example.com.
4th of July ends in the athletic fields between Mt Angel Middle School and JFK High School where you can enjoy music from the Marion County Citizen’s band while waiting for the beautiful firework display. Grab your blankets and lawn chairs and join us for the band performance beginning at 8:30pm followed by fireworks around 10:00pm. Mt Angel Knights of Columbus will once again be selling strawberries and ice cream and sausage, prior to the firework show, out of the concession stand between the two schools.
Fireworks are made possible with a generous donation from Roth’s Fresh Markets as well as other community donations. Thank you also to our very own Mt Angel volunteer fire department for once again directing and staging the annual firework show.
Come and enjoy a fun, old fashioned 4th of July Celebration in Mount Angel, Oregon in the Heart of Farm Country.
Parade entries will meet in the JFK High School parking lot no later than 10:00 AM, with float judging to commence at that point. The parade will follow the same route as previous years: Marquam to Birch to Taylor to Garfield, disbanding on the south end of Garfield at the end of the parade.
The Chamber is pleased to announce the winners of our annual scholarship awards.
Lydia Berning - Junior First Citizen
Spencer Bizon - The Maureen Ernst Memorial Scholarship
Each recipient will receive a $2,000 unrestricted scholarship. The Junior First Scholarship is funded by proceeds from Chamber events throughout the year.
The Maureen Ernst Memorial Scholarship is funded by gifts made in her memory and from the proceeds of the Hazelnut Fest, an event founded by Maureen.
Congratulations Lydia and Spencer!
